The Obamas and Oprah could not sway the IOC into holding the 2016 Olympics in Chicago. Apparently our dream team could not counter the bad news associated with the Windy City, i.e. murderous gangs of teens, a city with a longggggg history of corruption, not to mention the arrogance of our President.

I say good riddance. Who need the aggravation anyway? With this recession, and current level of government debt now is not the time to be hosting the world. Think of the Billions needed to build the necessary sites for the games, and, during these times of terror alerts, the Billions needed for security. The people of Chicago and of this nation should be thankful that the games are going to be held in Rio. Personally, I would have offered money to any country that would host these games. We do not need them!

Few comments: Not disappointed by the outcome, although I would have enjoyed watching the team sports, like the St Valentine's Day Massacre target shooting and Canadian bootleg whiskey boat races. Interesting that Rio is a very crime-ridden city, perhaps even worse than Chicago or DC. I think the real reason is that Brazil is an economy on the move and this is the first time the Olympics have gone to South America - its their turn to enjoy the financial drain of the games. Or maybe the Danes don't like Okra.
