I had the good fortune to be treated to a Phillies game. I'd never pay for tickets, too expensive, besides, I paid to help build the freakin place.

However, while at the game I bought a round of drinks for my host. Two glasses of beer and one stinkin soda, $19.00. Checking the prices of other things I noticed that a bottle of water was $4.00 and a hot dog was $5.25. I can buy an entire case of water, 32 bottles for less than $4.00. How many ways can these professional sports teams screw the fans and taxpayers who built these sport palaces that they play in?

I'm not so sure that the $300.00 is a one time fee. Most businesses renew their license annually.

The $300.00 is just the beginning. Once you get the license you'll need to pay the wage tax, business privilege tax, and income tax. Even if you do not generate any income you'll still have to file the forms and be subject to an audit where you will have to prove no income. Remember, unlike with criminal law, tax law presumes you are guilty until you prove you're innocence.

I found out why Philadelphia wants to charge this $300. It seems that the law has been on the books already. The blogs or even websites that they are talking about has Google ads or some other affiliate link on the site that when people click on it and purchase something the person gets a commission from it. The law is still wrong in my opinion.

This $300 seems to be a one time business license of $300. If this is truly the case then the blogger's get to take expenses off of their taxes. Examples are hosting charges, domain name registration. If you also do podcasts then all the equipment can be am expense. I sure know that I can come up with more than $300 in expenses that can be considered free money every year...

Read this interesting assessment of the parties involved in the building of the proposed 9-11 Mosque. Then let others know what you think.

Philadelphia is seeking to tax Bloggers $300.00 annually.  http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/philly-requiring-bloggers-to-pay-300-for-a-business-license-101264664.html

I see a potential freedom of speech lawsuit. What next, tax callers of radio talk shows for voicing their opinions? Or what about writers to the editorial sections of newspapers? Tax them all! Create another group of angry voter with motivation to throw all the bums out.  Grin

Now the Inky's editorial board is calling for the heads at the DRPA to roll. Where were they when they, the DRPA, was spending Millions on stadiums, museums, decorating the Admiral Wilson Blvd, funding the army - navy game, and giving themselves lavish salaries and benefits? All the while they were raising tolls, and our bridges were deteriorating.

Much like their endorsement of Vince Fumo having full knowledge of his shenanigans this paper editorial board is an embarrassment. Let's talk about heads rolling at the Philadelphia Inquirer.
